Cipher Frontier Issue 43
Issue 43: Go, Go, Go! Shine on, Series 15!

Hello, everyooone!!!!!!!

Today is!

Cipher's!!

Next release daaay!!!

Thanks to everyone's support, we've made it to series 15! 15, 15! That's incredible!
Man, I'm getting emotional...
As New Mystery of the Emblem is represented among this series, doesn't this mean every Fire Emblem title has appeared now?
That's right.
Wow, how commendable! ...wait. What about Gaiden?
T-that's... ummm... ahem!
Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a renewal of Gaiden, so... characters from one count for the other... obviously!
R-really...?
...on the Fire Emblem World website that was reopened on 12/4... "Built upon the foundation set by Gaiden, Echoes is a remake that features an enhanced storyline"... that's what's written.
That is correct. In fact, cards referencing this idea have been released in the past.
Ahh! It's Mister Mycen! This looks like it was drawn by the artist who was responsible for Gaiden!
R-right! That's right! Nice job, Niamh, Valjean!
So we've truly reached the point where Cipher can be described as a game where heroes from every Fire Emblem make an appearance. It's a dream come true!
Yep. But that means now's where the real battle begins, right? Now's where the real fun begins!
...hurry and tell us about the new set...
Alright. Let's get to it then!

This series features characters who face their destined fates and bring forth light into the world!
Marth, Kamui, and even Leif! All fine leaders with strong wills!
First, the characters from New Mystery of the Emblem, who fall under the Blade of Light symbol! These cards have a bold new addition: Hero Skills!
Hero Skills... did those not also appear in series 9? What do you mean 'new'?
In series 9, Hero Skills only allowed you to change your lord between Alm and Celica... this time... surprise! It allows you to change your lord to any other ally!
Huuuh~!? So all these new characters, like Mister Arran and Mister Samson... I could use that skill to make them my looord!?
Exactly! Even characters like Elice and Wendell... they too can become lords!
The possibilities... such an increase...!
And of course, series 15 also contains many characters that were new additions to New Mystery of the Emblem!
From cute girls to guys like Legion! They seem to have plenty of unique skills, too. Lookin' forward to using them!
From Conquest, we have Corrin's group, who wield their power in the form of DB (Dragon Blood) skills!
Woooow! Miss Corrin, and Mister Xander, and all the others!
So the Nohrian siblings use Dragon Blood skills this time... this means you can use them in tandem with the Hoshidan siblings from Series 14! The potential battle tactics have expanded greatly!
The possibilities... how immense...!!
And... from the state of the story at the end of Conquest, we have the following character!
M-Miss Hinoka, as Queen of Hoshido!! Wow, such dignity and beauty... she's almost godlike!!
And she wields the Fujin Yumi, just like the previous queen... pretty chic! Of all of the Conquest cards in this set, I've got my eye on this one.
And, aaand! We also have more cards this set that have both the Hoshido and Nohr symbols!
Well, it seems like Jakob is talented AND handsome! I wonder if he'd agree to replace Val for me?
......Lady Lilith's card appears to depict the My Castle. Her skills are unique as well.
The kingdoms of Leonster and Thracia from Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776 are also centerpieces for this set!
Those who have played Genealogy of the Holy War will recognize the unforgettable scene that is depicted on Quan and Ethlyn's cards here.
Ohh... Gotta admit, looking at this... even makes me a bit teary-eyed...
Time has passed since their battle, and their story has been passed down to Leif's generation.
With Leif representing the hopes of his mother and father, and Altena representing the unification of Leonster and Thracia, both bravely raise their blades... Such a moving sight!
Look, look! Leif has a new Bond Skill that gives everyone a Bond Skill! A skill fit for a leader!
Without a doubt. Were I employed to Prince Leif instead of my lady... no, I mustn't entertain such thoughts. Well, it's a wonderful skill.
...hey, what'd you just say, Val?
Wait, there's more. There are characters from outside of Leonster and Thracia as well!
Linoan's skill... how interesting...
Whoa, Reinhardt's skills are pretty scary! Looks like you're gonna be able to make some interesting decks out of Banner of the Holy War cards.
And, and, aaaand! We have cards from Tokyo Mirage Sessions as well!
It's Miss Tsubasa and Mister Barry! Aw, Mister Barry was my favorite TMS character!
Y-Your tastes are weird...
It looks like Lady Tsubasa is meant to be used in tandem with Sir Itsuki from series 14, and Sir Barry is to be used with Lady Maiko.
...I think that is where the series introduction ends, isn't it? Seems like there is plenty to look forward to in series 15!
The possibilities opened up by this set are greater than ever before!! Ohhhhh! I must try my hand at them!!
Truly... boundless...!!!
Oh, that's right, Miss Shade. Wasn't this Cipher Frontier supposed to have a special feature?
That's right! Entitled...

Producer Kawade's All-Night Cipher: Side-Series!!

Producer Kawade's All-Night Cipher is normally performed over livestream. However, lately, we receive so many submissions, and there is only so much air time to go over them all... so we've decided to show off some of them here!
...The borders of the livestream are shifting......
I am moved by how many responses we get. I am looking forward to this!
If I don't have it wrong, the theme this time was "Looking back on 2018".
Let's get started! First is a letter from Oshi! It looks like they drew characters associated with the guests who appeared on the Series 15 pre-release livestream.
Hinoka for Kaori Nazuka, Delthea for Eri Suzuki, Robin for Yugo Okuma, Tiki for Tetsu Kurosawa, and Lucina for Kotaro Yamada. What lovely smiles!
Next up are letters from Sorakaza and Rena!
Sorakaza's letter has Miss Hinoka and Miss Nanna, who were voiced by special guest Miss Kaori Nazuka! And Rena's letter has Miss Soleil, also voiced by Eri Suzuki! Everyone looks so cuuute!
These are letters from Kurumi and Aether!
I wonder if Kurumi is a fan of Ogma? In that case, definitely check out series 15, since he's in there! Aether also drew some characters for the livestream's special guests! Thanks!
We have written letters as well. This one comes from Sir Shunya. I will type it up here.
  1. This year, I got to play a lot of Cipher!
During that time, what left the biggest impression on me was the Kinki District Second Division event.
Up until now, even though I have qualified, I have not been able to participate in any of the tournaments like this one because it hasn't aligned with my schedule. However, this time--which is my 4th year and 4th time qualifying--I finally got to participate.
Not only that, I even made it to the finals with 3 wins and 1 loss. Achieving those results and getting a certificate really made me happy.
To not only qualify, but to make it to the finals is quite the accomplishment! I hope we can meet someday! Congratulations!
I've got one from Konakenken.
  1. "I've played a lot of Fire Emblem games between 2018 and now to try to get to know the characters.
I was especially impressed with Thracia 776. I really liked the Dandelion bandits, and even raised them in my file.
I haven't been able to truly play Cipher yet, so I am hoping to do so next year."
Hey, I'm happy to hear you played a bunch of the games. Hope you get to play a lot of Cipher in 2019!
This one is from Shiren.
  1. "Looking back on 2018, what I notice the most was a change in environment.
I've been going to shop tournaments for about two years, and until now, I was always the only Cipher player from my hometown, so outside of official events, I couldn't really play.
However, this year, that number went up by 6. Now, even on days where there isn't a big event going on, we can still get together and play together.
It was a big change--what a fun year."
What wonderful news that your Cipher friend group has grown larger. I hope you all continue to get along and play together.
I'll contribute too... This is from Shiro...
  1. "This year, my Cipher-mania was at a peak.
I didn't just play the game--I made more friends by going to events, and on top of that, other friends who saw my passion for the game got into Fire Emblem too.
It felt like my whole world expanded."

...if you make more friends, your world expands... a great outcome...
Thank you, everyone! We weren't able to share every letter we received, but we were happy for every one of them. Please send more in the future! Everyone whose letter is presented received a set of Special Cipher Stickers!
I love the Fanmail corner, it's so much fun! I hope we get to do it again sometime!
Yes, let's do it again sometime.
Speaking of the Cipher livestream, one more thing... Actually, I have been entrusted with one of the illustrations for Series 16 that Producer Kawade was not able to show during the livestream due to some 'adult matters'.
A-'Adult Matters'......?
If I remember correctly... Series 16 features Binding Blade, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Radiant Dawn, and Heroes, right? It releases in March of next year.
Correct. Allow me to show it to you all. This features a character from Book 3 of Fire Emblem Heroes!
C... could it be!? It's Eir, the Princess of the Realm of the Dead!!
Fie! So they are already introducing characters from Book 3 into Cipher!
That's Cipher for you! They work quickly!
Well, when you say it like that, it sounds more like the work is quick...
Hey! This is important information! I haven't heard anything about this!
My sincere apologies... it seems it is top secret.
Aghhh! I'm so upseeet!
B... but, well, it is quite lovely. I can't wait to see what she will be capable of in Cipher!
Aye. In the wake of series 15, I am looking forward to 16!
They even revealed some information about series 17 on the stream. The hype never ends.
Yes. I highly suggest keeping an eye on Cipher in 2019!
Oooooh... I can't hold back anymore... Let's hurry up and go buy series 15!!
An excellent idea! Talking about it got me all worked up.
Recently, I made a friend at my local card shop--I must make haste in creating a deck to defeat them!
May I accompany you? Let's all make decks and have a battle... and then, we can all chat about Fire Emblem after!
Collect the cards, battle, and then have a chat. There are lots of ways to enjoy Cipher.
As Cipher grows, so too does its fanbase.
Then let's go everyone!!
To the shops, and then...

It's Cipher time!

See you there...
