Cipher Frontier Issue 29
Issue 29: Squeezing In A Series 9 Release!

Hello everyooone!!!!

I can't believe it's already June!
I know. Rainy season is upon us.
Aye. Some might call this time of year dreary.
But that's not what we think, right?
That's right! After all, today, June 22nd, is...

The release date of Cipher series 9!

And!

Cipher's second anniversaryyy!

Yaaay! Release day! It's anothe release daaay!
Sniff... I'm so happy I could cry...!
Ohhh! It's our second anniversary! Our second year!
Ugh... It's too much, the room is spinning...!
Oi, Shade, pick one and stick with it.
How dare you! I'm just so happy, I can't help it!
Hahaha! Without a doubt, it's a joyous occasion!!
Huh...? Wait... series 1 released on 6/25/2015... so aren't there still 3 days left until our anniversary?
W-Whaaat!?
E-Emma, shh! It's close enough, it's fine, don't point it out!
What!? Was it supposed to be a secret!?
Emma... you'll understand when you're older...
Ugh, don't make it sound so weird! Since it's so close, we decided to celebrate our 2nd anniversary alongside series 9's release. So we're calling this our second anniversary!
A-Aye. Understood!
That we are able to celebrate a day like this is all thanks to those of you who support Cipher.
Let's show our gratitude! One... two...

Thank you everyooone!!!!

With that out of the way, let's do our series 9 introduction! Let's start with the starter deck, Land of the Gods!
"Land of the Gods" starter deck
Featured Title:
Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
MSRP:
1300 yen (before tax)
Contents:
One 50-card deck, Main character marker card, play sheet, rulebook
This deck is comprised of characters from the recently released "Echoes: Shadows of Valentia", is it not?
That's right! And it's been crafted specially with ease of use in mind for new players.
Ohh! I'm glad to hear that!
Yeah, it contains a DLC code for use with the game too, right? I think you mentioned you can use it to get some special items, didn't you?
That's right. Those 4 items look a little like this.
Wow, so that's what they look like when you equip them! So cooool!
Sir Alm with those hair ribbons... dangerous...
Next, lets talk about the "Thundering Earth" booster packs!
"Thundering Earth" Booster Packs
Featured Titles:
Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Binding Blade, Hasha no Tsurugi, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn
MSRP:
One 10-card pack: 350 yen (before tax)
One 16-pack box: 5600 yen (before tax)
The main focus of these are the new "Hero Skills" you see on Alm and Celica from Echoes, which allow you to change your lord mid-game!
W-What! How does that work?
You can switch your lord from someone else to Alm or Celica. If you have any allies with skills that affect or are affected by the Main Character, doing this will change the battle entirely.
Oh, it's inspired by Echoes, since you switch back-and-forth between playing as Alm and playing as Celica, right?
We haven't seen anything like this before! If you use it well, it'll make for a fun battle tactic.
I'm looking forward to trying my hand at them!
Nearly forgot--Echoes isn't the only place we're seeing new skills. Hasha no Tsurugi's Al and Radiant Dawn's Skrimir have some fun skills too--check 'em out for sure!
Mister Roy and Mister Ike are back for this one too, right? I'm excited!
Sir Kilmar has sparked my interest!
Don't miss out on Caineghis and Dheginsea--their power as Laguz is nothing to sniff at!
Ohhh... I wish I had some Thundering Earth packs to open right now!
And let's not forget about the booster box and its bonuses!
Oh? Pray thee, are these the promo cards for series 10?
That's right--they're Alphonse and Sharena from "Fire Emblem Heroes".
These cards don't seem to have a symbol. Does that mean you can deploy them regardless of what color cards are in your Bond Area?
Of course you'd be the one to notice that, Randal. That's correct! Keep your eye out for more cards from Heroes like this one in the future.
There are more signed cards and more cards with fancy connected illustrations this time too, right?
Of course! Here they are!
Whoooaaa! There are so many!!
Alm's Natsuki Hanae, Celica's Nao Higashiyama, Grey's Kisho Taniyama, Clair's Aya Endo, Saber's Takehito Koyasu, and Berkut's Tatsuhisa Suzuki are our signing vocal talent this time. Not only that, but Hiroshi IZAWA and Kotaro Yamada--Hasha no Tsurugi's author and artist respectively--have also offered their signatures this time!
As always, the cards and signatures are gorgeous.
Hm!? I spy some cards we as of yet have not seen before... could that be Lady Delthea?
Yes, that's Delthea's secret card! Cipher's very first rainbow foil card... it's got a sort of ominous feeling to it. Of course, it is also signed by her voice actress, Eri Suzuki!
Revealing it like this, can you really still call it a secret...?
Well, I don't really get some of what you all are talking about... but I'm a big fan of Eri Suzuki's work, so I'm happy she's here!
And with the release of series 9, our "It's Summer! Cipher Time! Special Clearfile Campaign Gift!" campaign has begun! If you purchase 8 booster packs, you'll get a clearfile.
...another ridiculously long campaign name this time, huh?
No point in commenting on it.
Well, I don't hate it.
Additionally, I have some more news... this time, about Echoes: Shadows of Valentia!
The 4th wave of DLC is being distributed starting today.
This content is in collaboration with Cipher as far as has been said... wait, it couldn't be!

We're making our debuuut!!!!

Cipher Legends 1 Price: 500 yen
An unfamilar girl appears in front of your army. She seems to be in a bind.....?
Cipher Legends 2 Price: 500 yen
Two women travel across Valentia. A dark shadow looms over one of them......!
Sniffle... to think I'd live to experience something like this... I'm touched~!
Sir Hidari has prepared character illustrations for us for this occasion. They are wonderful!
Emma
VA: Eri Suzuki
Shade
VA: Hibiku Yamamura
Yuzu
VA: Juri Kimura
Randal
VA: Katsuyuki Konishi
Ahhh! Look how cute he made me look~!!
Without a doubt, these are fantastic illustrations. Sir Hidari clearly took care with them.
He captured my likeness flawlessly, no matter how you look at it. I. Love. It ❤
Glad we've got some voice actors on board too. Finally get to hear what we sound like...
It is my first time hearing them as well. Wonderful!
It's a bit weird to say, since we're talking about our own voices... but they're exactly what I imagined!
Everyone, please, please download us and let us play with you!
We've already covered plenty of excitement just by going over the series 9 release and these DLC announcements, but it doesn't end there. Next up is events!
Starting in July, the "Go! Go! Summer Tour!" event will be held to commemorate our second anniversary!
Yaaaay!! Finally!!
The goods for the event--and the posters that will be available for signings--have been announced, so now all there is left is to head on over ot the event!
Aye! Our website hosts further details.
Oh! Didn't they say something about a new Coloring Area being added to the event?
I had no idea that you were interested in coloring, Sir Randal.
Hey, adulthood is hard. Coloring is relaxing.
There are plenty of other events for Fire Emblem fans to enjoy, too! I'd be really happy if you came, even if you've never touched a Cipher card in your life.
I really want to go to the Illustrator Signings!
Ohh, I'd nearly forgotten. Illustrators for the Fire Emblem series will be coming to each event site. I will have to get an autograph myself as well.
Oops, nearly forgot I had some new information for you ladies. Seems like the illustrators won't just be doing signings, they'll also be doing some live painting at the event.
Live ... painting???
You... you don't mean... we'll get to watch them draw in person!? Are you serious!? Where did you get this information!?
I asked good ol' Uncle Kawade on the livestream the other day. Uh oh, was it supposed to be a secret?
Amazing! I can't believe it! How fortuitous!
I'm gonna have to go to each venue~!!
Why is Randal getting all this preferential treatment lately! B-But I want to go too, I want to watch. Live painting...
Everyone come have fun with uuus!
Oh, don't forget, now that series 9 is out, there are plenty of new decks you can build...
Aye! Give some new cards and some new lords a try!
I wanna try those new "Hero Skills", so I'm gonna try a deck with Mister Alm or Miss Celica as a lord!
I thought some of you might say something like that, so I brought a little something you might find interesting.
These are the rankings of all the lords that have won in shop tournaments across Japan.
Mmmrghh... where did you get this information...
You can see how the common lords have changed as Series 7 and Series 8 released, right?
Ooooh! Looks like Mister Chrom's been getting a lot of use lately!
From what I've heard, even adding up all the wins from first to tenth place, you get less than 50% of the total victories--for both of these charts.
So what does that mean?
That means there's no one lord that is completely dominating the scene--various lords are seeing use. Seems like over 100 different lords have won battles in shop tournaments.
Hohoh... how interesting!
I'm looking forward to seeing how this ranking changes with Series 9.
I refuse to lose to the competition! I must resume my studies!
I'm gonna start looking at some new cards to use tooo!
Then, everyone, time to get going to the card shop!
And with all that, Cipher enters its third year!
Let's keep playing lots of Cipher, everyone...
We will, of course, keep giving it our all!
More cards, more events... plenty to keep your eyes on from here on out!
So while we keep going with year 3...

Let's do our best, everyooone!!!!
